What is a cake smash?
Cake Smash Photo Session is a new way to celebrate your baby's first birthday!
Cake smash is fairly new tradition of celebrating your baby's first birthday. It became more popular in past 7-10 years. A cake smash is a photo session, where a one-year-old gets super messy with its cake, while photographer captures the moments of a baby making a mess and tasting it for the first time. I find those sessions being super fun! Some babies do enjoy to get messy when digging to the cake, while others do not care for mess and frosting on their hands!
Before the scheduling a cake smash photo session, we would schedule a video call or in person consultation to go over the details, decorations, theme, outfits and expectations.
I do provide all the decorations and the cake.
If your child has any allergies, please, let me know in advance, so we can discuss the other options, otherwise I am not responsible for any reactions to the cake.

A lot of my clients love the idea of using images from the session for invitations to the actual Birthday Party, please keep in mind, if this the case, photo session should be scheduled 4-5 week prior the celebration party, so I have enough time to plan your cake smash session, the decorations, and place an order for the cake; then edit images, design your personal invitations and send them to a reputable professional lab to get printed.

1. Before The Cake Smash
Before introducing baby to the cake, I always start and encourage parents with some family portraits and baby's single captures.
Mamas, keep in mind, you already investing into your cake smash photo session, so why don't you treat yourself with a professional make up and hair styling?
Photoshop is a great tool to make small adjustments, but unfortunately, I can not "glue" eyelashes or fix a broken nail even though I am pretty good at working with Photoshop ))

2. The Cake Smash (The most fun part!)
From my experience, I came across two types of babies during the cake smash
SMASHERS Those kids are typically destroying the entire cake and enjoying making the mess. The bigger mess the better!
SHY Those babies are easily become unhappy just because of a small piece of frosting on their fingers. In this case, I have a few tricks in my sleeves that work every single time!
